About
Sue Jarvis – Wildlife Artist & Conservationist
Born in Rhodesia, Sue Jarvis has been painting for as long as she could hold a pencil, creating works that are truly inspirational. She spent her childhood in (now) Zambia, surrounded by the untamed beauty of Africa, before settling in (now) Zimbabwe, where she lived most of her adult life.
Sue’s deep connection to nature stems from years immersed in Africa’s wilderness, particularly within the Umfurudzi Safari Area, where she lived on the banks of the Mazowe River in a breathtaking environment teeming with wildlife.
A passionate advocate for conservation, Sue dedicated much of her life to protecting and preserving Africa’s incredible wildlife. As a safari lodge part-owner, manager, guide, and wildlife protector, she developed an intimate understanding of the bush, forming close bonds with the land and its creatures. This deep connection to nature is powerfully reflected in her artwork, bringing the spirit of Africa to life on paper.
Sue’s preferred medium is chalk pastels, which she skillfully uses to capture the raw beauty, emotion, and essence of the animals she loves. Through her art, she not only shares the majesty of African wildlife but also raises awareness of the need to protect these incredible species for generations to come.
